Momma & Jack Day

With a random Tuesday off of work, and the temperatures cooler, Jack and I spent a few hours at the zoo! I didn't take my camera with me...how many pictures of the top of Jack's head does one momma really need? But, of course there were a few moments I wished I had it! Thank goodness for my phone, and Mark's phone being able to email me =)!

The adventure began with Momma wanting a treat on the way to the zoo! Well, there's no hiding my treats and I was forced to share some "bu" peanut M&M's!
Don't worry, I took this picture while stopped at a red light!

Jack enjoyed seeing the "big" giraffes and being held while I pet the goats and cow! He had a grand 'ole time playing on the playground and we had a short timeout on the bench before moving on to visit the polar bears!

We ended our adventure with lunch and a chat on the "phone"! He's definitely starting to put words together and the jest of his conversation..."Hi...Jack...lunch...zoo...bye bye"!

I'm holding out hope...

That the TWO's are going to be TERRIFIC!

We're less than a week in and we've seen somethings terrible!

1. Timeouts! And lots of them! We have determined however, that timeout cannot occur on the step, but rather we need to be 100% removed; by going upstairs, sitting in the rocking chair, closing the door, and letting Jack spend his now 2 minutes, figuring it out!

2. Tantrums! Over everything! Cars not lining up how we want them too. Blocks not staying standing. An adult tiring of pushing the tot in the swing. Wanting to watch Mickey instead of play outside, play inside, eat, or take a bath. And not being able to wear a "Cars" tshirt every day and night!

3. Milk! Oh, how our little two year old loves his milk. There have been days that all he does is drink milk (8 cups in 1 day)! And, since he's so full on milk, he doesn't eat any breakfast, lunch, or dinner! We've discovered (through the help of Eva), to not let him drink anything until after he's eaten.

Of course, we've had some terrific moments as well!
1. Tickling Jack! (And tickling Mom and Dad too!)
2. "Burping"! Oh, the hilariousness of a fake burp!
3. And every morning, running down the hall, coming into our room,
and declaring that what we're holding in our hands is once again, "cars"!

Jack had his 2 year check up this week as well. Mark and I were actually both in attendance, and thank goodness! Jack put up a fight! He doesn't like to be without clothes, so getting measured resulted in me pushing him up against the wall to determine that he is 36 1/2" tall and Mark had to hold on him on the scale to determine a weigh in amount of 30lbs! (Better Mark than me on that one ;-)!)

Wanting to put our clothes on before Dr. Fix's visit! (We let him put his shoes back on ;-)!)

"On the Night You Were Born"

"On the night you were born,
the moon smiled with such wonder
that the stars peeked in to see you
and the night wind whispered,
"Life will never be the same.""

On the night you were born, I never imagine how much I could fall in love with you!
How much your giggle would warm my heart!
How much your tears would break my heart!

And how happy you would make me!

I never imagined I'd make you this cake for your 2nd Birthday!

And you'd eat it with a fork! (Especially after last year!)

Or that you'd be so excited about your gifts that Daddy had to finish opening them!

And I never imagined, that after 2 years, how you'd be learning about your world!
Using words,
Showing your frustrations,
And giggling with utter happiness in joy in the simplest of pleasures!

You make us smile and laugh more than I ever thought was possible!
You are the light of our lives
and our greatest joy!

"Heaven blew every trumpet
and played every horn
on the wonderful, marvelous
night you were born."
