Gobble Gobble

I sit in my bed, with "Doc McStuffins" on the TV, Jack in his jammies lying next time me, Roman crying in his bed (yes, another round of sleep training), and decide, its time to update the Brunsy blog!

November has been quite a busy month!  Jack and I took a trip to Denver to play with Ben!  And, Sarah!  And, Aunt Elizabeth!  (Bummer that Uncle JB was out of town.)  Sarah is such a sweet, well-mannered little girl!  And she sleeps through the boys yelling, squealing, and running in circles around her like a champ!
On the plane!
Lets race!
Smiley Sarah!

We celebrated Roman's first birthday!
The most interested he was in his presents!  (He'll learn!)

And we celebrated Thanksgiving!  (And Christmas!)

ONE!

My oh my!  What a year its been!  I cannot believe my "Sugar Plum" is ONE!  Roman James, you are such a wonderful little boy who lights up my heart with your smile and squeals of delight!  You are strong-willed and I can tell how much you love your family!

CAKE!

At one, my little plum, you are cutting teeth, nearly weekly!  You love table food but get so excited about your bottle!  Which, you even feed to yourself!  You hate being changed, unless you know you're going into the bathtub.  Where, you are a wild man!  You have started playing "Peekaboo" in the curtains and you love your monkey animals.  You want nothing to do with your baby toys and love playing with cars and dinosaurs.  You are a crawling machine and get the biggest kick out of holding on to our hands and walking anywhere you can!  You show your displeasure by throwing yourself on your belly and screaming.  You come into the kitchen and forage for food when you're hungry!  Not to mention that you inevitably spit out your paci and start smacking your lips when you see food you want.

Playing Peekaboo

You throw your arms up when you want to be picked up and you still crave (and love) constant attention from anyone who will entertain you!  You're constantly smiling and your belly and feet are ticklish!  You love playing with Jack.

Sliding!
We've certainly had our rough patches this year but you've help teach me that I always have more patience and my heart cannot love you enough!  You, Roman James, complete our family!

Fall Fun

Fall is a little hectic around our house!  But, as crazy as it may be, we still find time to do all sorts of fun things!  October was a whirlwind month!  Between Mark's 33rd Birthday, a weekend trip to Columbus, falling leaves, pumpkin patch, football games, and Halloween!  One can only imagine that I snapped a few photos!

We love Birthday's!
Nana & Papa came to celebrate with us!

Jack!  Oh Jack...his imagination is becoming so fun!  He's constantly talking about something, or playing some imaginative game!  He has spent many nights wearing his "Super Jack" cape with his pajama's, and he likes playing in forts or pretending he's a pirate!  Among these fabulous moments have been some Trying Three's.  I am ready for this phase to pass!  He is king of the NO, not listening, whining, and talking back.  (Sorry for all the talking back I did as a kid, Mom!  It is amazingly aggravating!)  And, even more aggravating is that some days he listens to Mark instead of me.  Yes, I realize I have 15 more years of dealing with back-talk, selective hearing, and choosing which parent he listens too...I think we should be a vineyard!  But, even with the worst days, he's always in need of snuggles and a million hugs and kisses before bedtime!

Arr Matey's!  Playing in the pirate ship at the pumpkin patch!
Checking out the tractor!

Roman!  Oh, my sweet little Romy!  He is constantly showing off his 2 teeth!  Well, usually!  When we made a trip to Columbus, Dad mentioned that Roman is just "Happy to be here"!  It's true!  (Most of the time!)  He loves, loves, loves, to be with Jack.  Any attention from his big brother makes him happy!  (Even if Jack is stealing back a toy.)  He's learned to stand up with assistance, is a crawling machine, loves all table food, and is into all sorts of things he shouldn't be (trash cans, cords, outlets, all the TV electronic gadgets, the wine rack, and the stairs)!  He has learned the art of the high-five and is having a difficult time with teething!  In fact, I can count the number of times he's slept through the night in the past couple of months!

Good Morning Momma!  I'm standing!  Give me five!
Rearranging the pantry!

Enjoy the pictures of fun!
An attempt at a photo with Grammie and Pop!
I love the leaves!
Too cool for skool!

Get me out of this stroller!  This Giraffe wants to find some leaves to munch on!
Pure happiness!...Wheel Barrel Races!

Picture Day

At 3 years and 10 1/2 months old, I decided it was time for some picture updates!  9am seems to be a someone decent hour around here.  I pre-heated Jack the evening before, that he would have to wear a fancy shirt for a little while, as to avoid the usual morning battle of getting dressed.  We talked about going somewhere to have someone else take their pictures with their camera.  I did everything I could to attempt to  prepare ourselves for picture day!

The morning came.  I showered after Roman's 6:00 bottle, as going to take pictures in sweats and a t-shirt was simply unacceptable.  The boys woke up, we ate cereal, watched Mickey and then it was time to get dressed.  No one fussed or argued as we were dressing.  The drive to the picture studio was amazing (we drove on a bridge, went over a river, saw a "mountain", and lots of bulldozers and dump trucks).  We got to the studio, used the bathroom, and tucked in our shirts.  And then it was our turn.  Roman loved the attention.  I think our photographer could've taken hundreds.  Jack on the other hand, turned into his typical 3-year-old-fullofattitude self.  I tried, coercing him nicely, that he only needed to listen to us for a few minutes and to please sit next to his brother.  Then we needed a quick timeout...in which I bribed him with a new car.  And we got 1 shot.  And he thought he was done.  And then, I decided that I just didn't care. The house rules is 2 cars.  So, 2 cars emerged from the diaper bag and the pictures went on.  Two cars are part of our life...why would I care so much?  Why shouldn't our 3 year old pictures involve matchbox cars in pockets and in hands?  Atleast our real life was captured.

And next time, Daddy's coming!

Bread & Jelly + the Peanut = Perfection!

Today was a day to mark in the record books!  The dual checkup!  It actually exceeded my expectations as I had prepared myself for the worst!  Jack actually listened to directions from the nurse and was weighed and measured before I'd even emerged with a dry-diapered babe!  He sure did earn his sucker!

So, the stats are as follows:
Jack, 36 lbs, 41" tall.  (89th percentile for weight, 98th for height)
Roman, 16lbs, 28" tall (2nd percentile for weight, not sure his height)

The average of both = PERFECTION!

I kept telling myself this as the evening progressed!  A teething, sore-legged baby and an over-tired 3 year old.  They're perfect!  They're healthy!  They're happy (usually)!  And I'm doing "all" the right things!  (Thanks Dr. Fix for reinforcing my parenting skills!  Have I mentioned that I love her?)  Fussing, crying, arguing, crying, not listening (although I know you passed your hearing test), giggling, crying, sleeping...PERFECTION!

Roman's first football game!  1st game (er. scrimmage)!

3

Oh, Super Jack!

Super Jack
How you make me giggle!  I can't believe we're celebrating Birthday #3!  It seems like yesterday that I was anxiously awaiting your arrival with a bowl of ice cream resting on your bump!  Today I've already tucked you back into your bed once, and gave you the last warning about taking away your beloved car!
Bed tent (that hasn't made it a full night!)
You have grown up so much this past year!  Your communication (the good) has improved!  Your sentences are still short, and you sometimes have trouble getting your thought out, but, I understand you!  You're challenging your boundaries and the rules we've done our best to enforce!  Although, sometimes you break us.  And everyone knows that you know how to break me first.  Your belly laughs and smile light up a room!

The biggest change for you this year was becoming a big brother!  You are a great big brother! You have amazed me in your willingness to share with Roman - including your cars!  You have the ability to make him smile and stop crying better than anyone in the world!  You've even shown us your protective side - when Papa tried to put him on the green (Jack) swing while you were swinging in the blue (Roman) swing.  And you try to tell him not to put things in his mouth!

You have started to learn your numbers and your alphabet!  You're even starting to sing songs!  The greatest joy comes from the "Bumble Bee" song!  You even requested a "Dinosaur" song, to which I had to make up lyrics!   You've started to dress yourself and are even requesting to use the potty alone!  And, you've started to help in the kitchen - muffins are a favorite!

Your imagination is going in full force!  You're constantly running from Monsters.  You're building more and more with your Legos and blocks...bridges and castles are a current favorite!  And sometimes we hear your jibberish from the other room while playing with any of your other toys!

You are such a love!  I can always count on you for a hug and kiss!  You still like to know where we are at all times and the constant question in the house is, "Mom, what are you doin'?"  or "Where's Dad?"!  And all things farts, burps, and poop is the cause for an immediate smile and "no, way" response!

3rd Birthday Present!  A Trike!

Happy Birthday to you Jack!
